History
Severochema, coperative for chemical production Liberec, was set up on the 1st of October, 1953. It partially continued in the traditional production which had its roots in the existing registered office of the company since 1884. The production was at the beginning concentrated in the plants located in Liberec, Varnsdorf and Horni Rasnice. In 1958 the production was transferred from Horni Rasnice to Liberec. Thanks to the investments in its development worksite and own formulas, the cooperative developed from an originally regional manufacturer to the position of a prominent manufacturer of chemical products, supplying the entire market of that-time Czechoslovakia. In the period after November 1989 Severochema underwent a transformation process and, as one of the few companies in the region, managed to come through the tough competition of the market environment without any foreign capital entering the cooperative. In the recent years the company export has been developed and currently Severochema supplies their products to the markets of Hungary, Slovakia, Russia, Bulgaria, Italy and Scandinavia. The continuous expansion of export, that is necessary for the future existence, is among the priorities of the cooperative. Important milestones in the history of Severochema was launching of some products on the market that still belong with the key products at present. These include mainly the window cleaner IRON® (1959), special nitro-thinner C 6000 (1962), solid fire-lighter PE-PO® (1964), natural liquid laundry starches (1976), Seacare® cosmetics with Dead Sea salts (1995), Graffiti cleaner and Graffiti prevention (2001). The solid fire-lighter PE-PO® is currently number one on the Czech and Hungarian markets, and among the first three in Slovakia. Thanks to continuous improvement of the manufacturing technology and formula, PE-PO® achieves high quality which is being appreciated mainly by the customers of the European Union countries. Since 1991, the liquid laundry starches have been manufactured of natural starches, based on the cooperative's patented technology. The Graffiti product was awarded the Innovation of the year 2001 by the Czech Association of Cleaning.
